The difference between perfection and doom

As you may know I always stress about my shoots. It's 00:34 and I have a shoot in 11 hours. I'm stressing now.

I hate the start of a shoot when we are all warming up and I feel like a buffoon who's more likely to shoot 100 pictures of my ears than anything Kate Moss would be proud of, so I was happy today when Johnny said he liked the fact that I was a perfectionist. Perfectionist? I thought that I was a moaning doom merchant. Perfectionist sounds much better. I also thought (think) that I am a little like George Lucas in the "only do as much as you have to" efficiency school of doing things. But now, thinking about it, that's a separate paradigm. I only do what I need to do but what I do, I do right (on the seashore).

So here's my new mantra (or maybe it's not new but I just realised that I have it).

Keep it simple, do it right.

Hopefully that will help with stressing about the next shoot. That and a bowl of cornflakes with a whiskey chaser.

As you know, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy so...

Heeeeeeere's Johnny.
