Red, blue and green Box.

Remember when I had a shoot arranged and the model didn't show so I shot myself? Well I have always wanted to do that properly.

Funny Story - I will be entering a competition soon and I'm rubbish at choosing my own photos so I thought I would ask other people's opinion. I printed out 40 7x5's and pinned them up at work. All my best stuff. I had an idea which one I would choose but the overwhelming opinion of everyone that looked at them was that this was the outstanding shot.

Sad old man

Apparently it has emotion and they wonder what the sad old man is thinking... Great. Other People have started a career out of self portraits so there is definitely hope for me yet. I mean we're both young and good looking right?

Although I like it and would have thought about entering it, I know I wouldn't have. Now however I will. If it gets anywhere it's cakes all round.

I was talking on facebook with Steve Box, who I photographed with Gemma at the Malmaison last summer. He wanted some head shots for an agency interview and being a sporty type I thought he would fit the bill for Mr Red and Blue. So after the head shots were in the bag I told him I wanted to uplight him and experiment with colours. He didn't seem convinced but I knew it would be awesome so he got his shirt off and away we went.

First we did the Hulk (just for a laugh).

Hulk

Then we did the red and blue.

Blue Man

We then ditched the gels.

Pants

It's funny because all this is shot in my conservatory which if you read this you'll know makes me cringe every time I show a model in. The photos always look great but there's always that initial moment of "yeah... it's my conservatory.....". I have a new background system to install in there over the weekend so it should look a little more professional.

We'll see next week.
